Thursday January 7th  “Reshaping Health Services for Derbyshire -The Royal Derby Hospital” with Derrick Conway, Assistant Estates Director..
SATURDAY January 23rd

Joint event with the Village Show Committee. Howard Drury, who presented Central TV’s “Gardening Time” programme for 10 years will be giving “Forty Years of Gardening Tips.” Bring your own food, drink and glasses. Tickets £4.50 from Frances Wimbush 703180

Thursday February 4th Englishness in Music' – with Tom Corfield, Assist. Organist Derby Cathedral - We often say of  Elgar or Vaughan Williams, for example, that their music sounds typically English.  What exactly do we mean?  Is the Englishness definable or does it defy any sort of analysis?  The talk offers a few thoughts together with musical illustrations
SATURDAY  February 13th    Another Jazz Concert with Bill Smith and Gypsy Jazz. Bring your own food, drink and glasses. Tickets £7.50.
Thursday March 4th The Galapagos Islands – a Volcanic and Biological Laboratory” with Colin Bagshaw.    Followed by the Annual General Meeting.
SATURDAY  February 7th    Another Jazz Concert with Bill Smith and Gypsy Jazz. Bring your own food and drink. Proceeds to Repton Church Heritage Appeal.
Thursday March 5th

From Back Garden to Bandavgrargh.” A year in the life of award winning wild life photographer Danny Green.   Followed by the Annual General Meeting.

Thursday April 1st  “A Day in the Life of a Nightingale Probationer Nurse circa 1874” with Pat Smedley, who previously gave the talk on Florence Nightingale.
Thursday April 29th Coach trip to Cambridge and guided tour with Richard Morris, former master at Repton School.
Thursday May 6th

“The Salt Industry” with Andrew Fielding, co-author of the Shire book of the same title.

Thursday June 10th Evening visit to the Roundhouse (recently imaginatively renovated and now part of Derby College) for a guided tour. ( Members and guests only using own transport.)
Friday June 18th Coach trip to the Anderton Boat Lift and Wollerton Old Hall Garden.
Thursday July 1st “Churchill, Roosevelt & Stalin” with Richard Morris, former master Repton School.
Thursday September 2nd “Bats” with Kevin Reynolds – Staffordshire Bat Group.
SATURDAY September 11th

Coach trip to Liverpool and guided city tour with Hilary Oxlade (Blue Badge Guide).

SATURDAY October 2nd

“Swords, Helmets & Crosses – The Staffordshire Hoard” with Dr. Kevin Leahy. ( Tickets will be available to guarantee a seat at what could well be a very popular talk)..

Thursday October 7th

“The Craft of Thatching” with Master Thatcher David Wood.

Thursday November 4th “From Pursuit to Passion to Profession” with Ashley Franklin and results of the photographic Competition.
Thursday December 2nd Members evening - details later.
 

 

   
 

 

Unless otherwise stated all talks/events are held in the Village Hall, Askew Grove and start at 7.30p.m. Charges: Members £2, Visitors, who are always welcome, £3.
